A major challenge for most companies is in choosing the proper software. Unfortunately, with the multitude of options available we tend to over purchase and buy software we will never use or buy packages which are inflexible. This latter problem is one that will follow most companies in a loop of additional modules, software upgrades and added costs. Buying up- front cost effective software may not always be as cost effective as we would like to believe.

Soft-Ware

1. The programs used to direct the operations of a computer, as well as documentation giving instruction on how to use them; application software, bundled software, freeware, groupware, operating system, presentation software, productivity software, program shareware, spreadsheet and system software.

ERP- Enterprise Resource Planning. This software connects the entire company; a great tool for diverse companies. It permits the front office and back office to communicate.

MRP- Material Resources Planning. This software supports the manufacturing and inventory process. It helps plan your production lines and inventory levels; a good program for companies with busy purchasing departments.

Accounting- These programs are exclusive to the Accounts Payable and Receivable system. These are standard ledger driven software.

Q.A. – Quality Assurance. This software allows the qualification and audit of supplier and internal procedure and process controls. It streamlines the internal audit process identifying required changes prior to external audits.
